MOAA recently participated in the Military to Civilian Transition Summit 3.0, hosted by DoD's Transition to Veterans Program Office in collaboration with the TAP Interagency Partnership. Discussion focused on opportunities to improve and enhance the transition experience for servicemembers and veterans, as well as their families and caregivers. Additionally, numerous helpful resources were referenced, including:

  • Military to Civilian Transition Report: This first-of-its kind report provides an overview of the history and current trends at play for the approximately 200,000 servicemembers that transition each year.
  • VA Welcome Kit: This guide helps transitioning servicemembers and veterans, and their families and caregivers, navigate the benefits and services they've earned.
  • National Resource Directory: This website connects wounded warriors, servicemembers, and veterans, and their families and caregivers, to programs and services that support them. Review existing resources and submit your own.
  • The formal definition of transition: “A period of adjustment, which includes the planning and preparation accomplished during military service, when servicemembers and their families explore and embark on endeavors in the civilian world upon leaving active duty.”

MOAA's active career transition program also helps guide thousands of military members and their families through presentations, events, webinars, services, and tools to achieve their career aspirations. Learn more about the program.
