From the Expert:
- The Major Richard Act is meant to enable combat-injured veterans to keep at least an amount of retired pay equal to their years of service.
- Medically retired veterans with less than 20 years of service are only eligible for the concurrent receipt program called Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC).
- Act passage would enable combat injured veterans the option of receiving either Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRDP) or CRSC, whichever makes them “more whole.”
