A project seeking faces to go with the more than 55,000 names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is within 76 fallen servicemembers of completion.

Since its launch in 2009 as Faces Never Forgotten, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund’s Wall of Faces project offers a searchable database of photos honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. A VA.org blog post offered a list of the 76 remaining names (as of March 17) to mark National Vietnam War Veterans Day on March 29.

California, Florida, Georgia, New York, and Puerto Rico are the only states and territories with outstanding images. The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017, signed into law in March of that year, designates March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. Many states honor Vietnam War service on or around that date, which was also marked in a presidential proclamation in 2012 as Vietnam Veterans Day. The last U.S. combat troops left South Vietnam on March 29, 1973.
