Born in New York City, NY, Catherine graduated high school in 1940 and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company until she married William in 1946.

Working with her husband, she developed business experience in the various fields of retail, wholesale, and manufacturing. Each endeavor required study and research, product design, marketing, and developing customer relationships.

She collected international art, primarily Oriental porcelains, paintings and antiquities. She enjoys collecting and reading books, visiting museums, and is always interested in people—adults and children—in every walk of life.
