Mr. Douglas D. Sanders joined MOAA in 2025 as its General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. He provides legal advice and counsel to the CEO, board chair, executive management team, and other staff on all legal matters pertaining to the association and its subsidiaries. He also oversees the corporate governance functions for MOAA, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
Sanders served the Department of the Air Force in multiple roles for 24 years. He is an active duty and reserve veteran of the service’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps and held several leadership positions in the Senior Executive Service, including deputy general counsel for Installations, Energy, and Environment, deputy general counsel for Fiscal, Ethics, and Administrative Law, and a non-lawyer position as the deputy administrative assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force. Sanders concluded his federal service as the principal deputy general counsel, the senior career civilian attorney in the department.
Sanders obtained his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Indiana University and graduated cum laude with his Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University’s School of Law.
