Mission

The purposes of the Chapter shall be to promote the purposes and objectives of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA); foster fraternal relations among retired, active duty, and former officers of the uniformed services and their reserve components and National Guard; protect the rights and interests of retired, active duty and reserve component and National Guard personnel of the uniformed services and their dependents and survivors; provide useful services for members and their dependents and survivors; and serve the community and the nation.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in the chapter is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses. Qualifying persons interested in joining the chapter may contact Garrett Randel by email at g.randeljr@att.net or phone at (208) 919-2250 for further information.

Chapter Activities

Chapter bimonthly meetings are luncheons held on Saturdays. Meetings are scheduled for two hours, with the first 30 minutes are set aside for socializing. The remaining 90 minutes includes the presentation of chapter business, followed by a guest speaker knowledgeably on a subject of interest to both serving members and veterans. Annually, two meeting are designated social activities: a picnic in August and a holiday season dinner in December. The chapter supports the Boise State University Army ROTC program and two junior ROTC programs; one army and one air force. We support Veterans Day activities, Wreaths Across America, and other veterans’ activities as they present themselves during the year. The chapter is establishing a fund that it can tap to assist veterans in temporary distress identified to us by an Idaho Department of Veterans Affairs activity named Joining Forces.

Legislative Issues

The chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda, and occasionally will invite members of the Idaho Legislature to speak to the chapter on matters of concern to veterans that may be on the legislature’s agenda. The chapter also supports other local Service organizations on legislative actions.

General Information

Chapter leadership strives to ensure that all members feel welcome and want to become involved in chapter activities. Our bimonthly meetings are informal but at the same time organized, so members' time is not wasted. The chapter’s November meeting is dedicated to the presentation of annual reports, establishing member dues for the next year, setting a schedule for the next year, and electing officers. Annual dues are $35.00. A newsletter is published soon after each meeting and at other times as necessary to keep the chapter's members informed of decisions taken and provide those who may be unable to attend meetings with a sense of what took place during meetings.

About Our Chapter

The Treasure Valley Chapter was chartered on February 9, 1971. We serve the Treasure Valley area of southwestern Idaho and a portion of eastern Oregon; in all several cities and towns extending west from Boise, Idaho to Ontario Oregon.
