Mission

The mission of the Stones River Chapter is to provide support for local members of the uniformed services, their families and surviors. The chapter supports community veterans activities and provides a liaison with local government representatives regarding military and veterans affairs.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership is open to persons having held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses. Chapter membership is predicated on membership in MOAA.

Chapter Activities

The Stones River Chapter holds meetings each month. At least two meetings per quarter feature guest speakers or programs of interest to the general membership. A picnic is held each September at a local community park, and a special Christmas program is held in lieu of the December meeting. The chapter supports the Army ROTC program at Middle Tennessee State University, nine Army Junior ROTC programs, one Marine Junior ROTC,and one Air Force Junior ROTC program is a three county area. The chapter participates in the local Veterans' Day activities. Regular contributions are made to the Fisher House constructed at the York Veteran's Administration Hospital and the local veteran's home.

Legislative Issues

The Stones River Chapter supports the national legislative agenda of MOAA. The chapter also supports the state veterans' council and is involved in other area veteran's activities.

General Information

Stones River Chapter holds meetings monthly. At the present time, meetings are held the third Thursday of each month beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Through the Grapevine in Murfreesboro. A buffet meal is served. The exception to this is the picnic each year. Persons desiring to attend chapter meetings should contact LTC(R) Mapes at 615-260-9509  or COL(R) Moshea at 615-459-7267 to obtain information as to time and location of the meeting.

About Our Chapter

The Stones River Chapter was chartered in September 1995 and serves counties in middle and southern middle Tennessee. Meetings are held monthly. The September meeting is a picnic and does not follow the regular meeting schedule. The chapter currently has 85 members including Surviving Spouses.
