Chapter membership is only $12 per calendar year for regular members and $6 for auxiliary members. For more information on joining our chapter please contact CWO3 Laurence Dickinson, USCG (Ret) at 508-644-2179 or via e-mail at cwo3uscg@comcast.net.

Chapter Activities

The Chapter holds dinner meetings on the third Friday of each month (except JAN/FEB) at the prestigious Wamsutta Club in New Bedford, MA. Board of Directors meetings are held at 1630 on the first Wednesday of each month, also at the Wamsutta Club. Most dinner meetings feature guest speakers who discuss various topics relevant to the members. Chapter guests have also included U.S. Representative Barney Frank, State Representative Michael Rodrigues, and New Bedford Mayor Scott Lang. The chapter also supports four local JROTC programs, the Blue Star Mothers, and the Welcome Home Veterans Housing program in New Bedford.

Legislative Issues

The chapter is active in federal, state and local political affairs and has a full-time representative on the Massachusetts Council of Military Organizations, Inc. The chapter is also an active member of the MOAA Bay State Council of Chapters. Chapter members, working through Mass COMO and the Bay State Council, played an active role in the passage of the state's landmark legislation in 1997 that permanently exempted uniformed services retirement pay and SBP from state taxation. The chapter continues to work hard on behalf of America' servicemembers and their families.
