Mission

The mission of MoCoMOAA is to promote the purposes and objectives of MOAA; foster fraternal relations among its members; to benefit the members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors and to advocate for a strong national defense, while providing needed support to the community and its members.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in The MoCoMOAA Chapter is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component, active, national guard or reserve, of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses.

Chapter Activities

Legislative Issues

MoCoMOAA supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we regularly invite our Congressional Representative and Senators to speak to the chapter. To pursue this goal the chapter operates with a Legislative Triumvirate as opposed to a single legislative liaison. Members of the Triumvirate make a point of attending all activities possible, both in the immediate area and in Washington. The chapter is also active in supporting the state council in various state veterans' issues.

General Information

Chapter meetings are lunch or dinner meetings held on the third Thursday of each month beginning at either 1100 or 1800. Locations vary and are announced in the chapter newsletter and on the weblog.

About Our Chapter

The Monterey County Chapter was organized on 15 SEP 1971 and incorporated on 23 MAY 1987. MoCoMOAA serves the Central Coast of California and more particularly Monterey County and the immediate surrounding area. Board meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at the Monterey Elks Club Board Room. General membership meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at various locations. The chapter's newsletter, The Nugget, available in both electronic and "hard-copy" versions is published monthly. We also have a weblog at http://mocomoaa.blogspot.com.
