The mission of our chapter is to benefit the members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors and to advocate for a strong national defense. We also support local Junior and Senior ROTC chapters by providing medals to deserving cadets. We also provide monetary scholarships to cadets in the Senior units at Mississippi State University.

Membership in the Golden Triangle Chapter is open to anyone who holds or has held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses.

Our Chapter holds six meetings a year. All meetings are dinner meetings except for the October luncheon which is the chapter's annual business meeting. We invite speakers to present information on topics relevant to the members. The December meeting is a special Christmas meeting with musical entertainment. Our major activity involves the support of 7 JROTC units and 2 ROTC units at Mississippi State University. We also support the annual Veterans Day observance and Retiree Activity Day at our local Columbus Air Force Base.

The Golden Triangle Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we maintain close contact with our Congressional Representatives and Senators. We are active with the State Council of Chapters and, in fact, hold officer positions on that council.

Chapter meetings, except for October, are dinner meetings held at 6:30 PM. The October luncheon is at 11:00 AM. Spouses are invited to attend ALL meetings. The Chapter Board of Directors meets six times a year in the months of Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, and Nov. All members are welcome to attend Board meetings. The meeting place, menu and reservation information is announced in the Chapter Newsletter which is disseminated about two weeks prior to each meeting.

The Golden Triangle Chapter was chartered in 1978 and serves the Northeast part of Mississippi and Western Alabama. Meetings are held in the months of Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct and Dec. All meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday, except for the December meeting which is on the second Thursday. The chapter publishes a newsletter, TRIANGLE TALK, six times a year just prior to each meeting with details of the upcoming meeting such as meeting location, program, menu and reservation information. The chapter currently has 135 members made up of currently serving, former, and retired officers and their survivors.
