Mission

The purpose of the Cumberland Valley (CV) Chapter is to promote the aims of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA); to further the legislative and other objectives of MOAA; to encourage and facilitate camaraderie among retired, active, and former officers of the uniformed services; to support local ROTC and JROTC programs; and provide useful services for, and support the rights and interests of, members, their dependents and their survivors.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in CV Chapter is open to men and women who are, or were, commissioned or warrant officers of the eight uniformed services. Spouses of deceased members, and spouses of those who were eligible to have been members are invited to become Chapter Surviving Spouse members.

Chapter Activities

CV Chapter meetings feature guest speakers on a variety of topics of interest to members. The January meeting features the installation of chapter officers, the February meeting is a ROTC awards ceremony, the December meeting is the annual general membership meeting, and a special Christmas party. The chapter supports five JROTC programs with yearly grants, and the Dickinson College and Shippensburg University ROTC programs with a grant to a senior cadet each year from both schools and a commissioning packet to all those commissioned that includes a copy of Once An Eagle. The Chapter also supports the Cumberland Valley Honor Guard and Carlisle Barracks Retiree Day.

Legislative Issues

CV Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda. The chapter is an active supporter of the Pennsylvania Council of Chapters. Two chapter members have served as president of that organization.

General Information

Chapter social events are held on the second Wednesday each month, except during the summer. September - November and April and May meetings are normally held in the evening.

December - March meetings are normally held at noon.
