Mission

The Mission of this organization is to:  Inculcate and stimulate love of our country and its flag.  Defend the honor, integrity, and supremacy of our National Government and the Constitution of the United States.  Advocate military forces adequate to the defense of our country.  Further the legislative and other objectives of the Military Officers Association of America.  Encourage and facilitate camaraderie among retired, active and former officers of the uniformed Services.  Further the ties between the military and civilian communities through participating in and sponsoring community activities.  Promote useful services for, and to protect the interest of our members, their dependents and survivors

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in the MOAA Chapter is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses. Chapter members are required to have and maintain a national MOAA membership. Annual Dues are $15.00 ($7.50 for Surviving Spouse/Auxiliary Members). Chapter Activities

The chapter holds monthly dinner meetings except for the months of December, July, and August. The meetings feature guest speakers on topics relevant to the members. The chapter supports the NJROTC programs at Charlotte, Port Charlotte, Lemon Bay, and North Port High Schools with NJROTC medals and scholarships. The medal and scholarship winners and their families attend our May meetings. Their awards are also announced by one of our members at their school awards programs. The chapter is a participating member of the Charlotte County Veterans Council. The chapter also is supporting the fund raising, construction, and long term maintenance of the Southwest Florida Vietnam Memorial Wall Project (50% replica) and various other veteran projects.

Legislative Issues

The Charlotte Harbor Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we invite our Congressional Representative and Senators as well as our state representative and senators to speak to the membership. The chapter is also active in supporting the state council in various state veterans' issues.

General Information

Membership dinner meetings are dinner meetings held on the last Monday of each month beginning at 6:00 PM. The Board of Directors meets the second Thursday of each month. The chapter publishes a monthly newsletter, the Muster. There are no meetings or publications during the months of December, July, and August. The chapter membership averages 134 members made up of currently serving, former, and retired officers and their survivors from the uniformed services.

About Our Chapter

The Charlotte Harbor Chapter, Punta Gorda, Florida was chartered on 25 May 1981. Located on Charlotte Harbor on the Gulf of Mexico, the chapter serves Charlotte County and the west central part of the state of Florida. The chapter publishes a monthly newsletter, the MUSTER. The chapter membership averages 134 members made up of currently serving, former, and retired officers and their survivors.
