Often when folks contact a call center, they expect a series of voice recordings or automated messages. However, when you call MOAA’s Member Service Center at (800) 234-6622, you are connected with a live representative trained in all elements of MOAA’s advocacy mission and member benefit programs.

 

Located at MOAA Headquarters in Alexandria, Va., the Member Service Center is here to assist you with:

 

Legislation and Benefits Knowledge Base: Member service representatives (MSRs) keep track of changes to legislation and military benefits affecting MOAA’s membership base, including:

• The Major Richard Star Act, which would end an unfair compensation offset faced by tens of thousands of combat-injured veterans.

• The Basic Allowance for Housing Restoration Act, which would move the military housing allowance back up to 100% of projected housing costs, from its current 95%.

• Ongoing efforts to protect the earned TRICARE For Life health benefit.

• The Expanding America’s National Cemetery Act, which would allow for the creation of a second national cemetery and alleviate space concerns which have led to proposed eligibility restrictions at Arlington National Cemetery.

 

Membership Account Updates: Our representatives provide a full range of membership support, including helping members:

• Join, renew, or upgrade their membership.
• Change their address.
• Update their Military Officer magazine subscription.
• Make other updates to their account.

Affiliate Support: If you are a part of chapter leadership or looking to be involved with your local chapter, our representatives can assist you with:

• Navigating the Committee Module.
• Finding your closest local chapter.
• Tracking local chapter activities and initiatives.

 

MOAA’s MSRs are consistently some of the most informed members of the headquarters team. They routinely interact with and support every business unit and every mission area of the association. MSRs also undergo an intensive six-week training program at the start of their employment to prepare for any and all questions our members may have.

 

As we transition to a new membership database, MOAA conducted an in-depth analysis of resources and staffing requirements. Over the past several years, we have seen a marked decrease in the number of members contacting the call center via the phone in the early morning and late evening hours.

 

Based upon this assessment, we determined it appropriate to reduce the Member Service Center hours to more closely align with MOAA core operating hours to better serve our members and sustain the high level of customer satisfaction rates.

 

Beginning, Monday, April 8, the new Member Service Center hours will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Eastern. You can connect with a representative via:

Call (800) 234-6622 for help and assistance with MOAA membership support (join, renew, upgrade), change of address, legislative action, benefits information, magazine subscriptions, or for general assistance.

Email msc@moaa.org for assistance with any question or concern, as listed above. Use this e-mail address also to contact any MOAA staff member. Additionally, our MSRs can provide a wide range of assistance with personal concerns such as address changes, contact information updates, or a change in membership status (join/renew/upgrade).

Online 

Once the transition to the new membership database takes effect (on or about April 22), you will be able to update your membership information online. This changeover will make it easier for members to log into their online account, and will allow MOAA to provide enhanced customer service, meeting your needs faster and more efficiently.
