The VA is the latest federal agency to add Login.gov to its website and mobile applications. Veterans can now create an account on Login.gov to consolidate access to a continually expanding list of federal government websites.

Your Login.gov username and password can be used to access any agency that partners with Login.gov. Those agencies include USAJOBS (Office of Personnel Management), TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, the Small Business Administration, and more.

Login.gov uses two pieces of information to securely sign in and protect your information; a password and authentication method, either a one-time code sent to your phone or authentication app.

The program is administered by GSA’s (General Services Administration) Technology Transformation Services and uses the highest standards of security.

There is no requirement to establish a Login.gov account. VA.gov and MyHealtheVet can still be accessed with current login methodologies. For VA.gov, that includes ID.me, DS Logon, and MyHealtheVet; the VA recommends those using MyHealtheVet switch to a different VA.gov logon method, but still allows access through MyHealtheVet.

“Login.gov is a secure digital credential designed to streamline how users access government benefits and services,” said VA Chief Technology Officer Charles Worthington in a June 28 press release. “As part of the department’s digital transformation efforts focused on continuous improvement, we’re embracing the innovative technology designed by Login.gov to provide our Veterans a seamless sign-in experience to better serve, engage and enhance the customer experience.”
