Might your transition involve moving to a new state? Ever wonder about what state laws could mean for your military benefits, and how to get involved with state-level advocacy?

MOAA recently held an information-packed webinar on these topics, with information about the Defense-State Liaison Office (DSLO) and highlights of the top 2022 state-level legislative advocacy issues.

While MOAA’s primary focus is national-level advocacy, we collaborate with DSLO national and regional liaisons who work at the state level to alleviate barriers in state policy servicemembers, retirees, veterans, survivors, and their families face as a result of military life. Much of this outreach comes via MOAA’s councils and chapters – a network of hundreds of affiliates covering the entire nation.

MOAA and the DSLO hosted a webinar specifically to share legislative best practices and key issues in upcoming legislation. Guest presenter and DSLO Director Marcus Beauregard introduced the team of regional liaisons who work diligently on behalf of the entire military community to provide state policymakers with expert insight on issues affecting military families and their quality of life.

Focused on legislation at the state level, the DSLO team provides the expertise and research in support all of uniformed services as members settle in across the nation in various locations. Top legislative priorities include spouse licensure transferability, programs to assist military children after a move, and many more. Check out the top state-level legislative advocacy issues for 2022.
