From Mendocino’s rocky coast to Santa Monica’s sandy shores, from dude ranches to mud baths and mineral springs, from historic B&Bs to modern resorts, we’ve found theses military offers with discounts of up to 25%.

 

Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona is known for its natural springs, therapeutic pools, and healing mineral baths. Military members and anyone over age 65 get a 10% discount on admission, which includes clay mud baths, use of 19 pools and mineral water baths, saunas, steam rooms, and fitness and wellness classes — or just relaxing throughout the lush 12-acre resort. The offer is valid for day use only (no accommodations). Elk Cove Inn & Spa, on the Mendocino Coast atop a bluff with panoramic ocean views, offers active duty and retired military members 25% off through March 31, 2020. A breakfast buffet and evening happy hour are included. The discount is not valid Dec. 20-30, 2019. Call (707) 877-3321, mention this offer, and show your military ID at check in.


Old Monterey Inn, a four-diamond, romantic B&B surrounded by English gardens, is a short walk to Monterey’s famous Fisherman’s Wharf. Regular rates start at $165 as of this writing, but the hotel offers a 10% military discount. Call (831) 375-8284.

Martine Inn, a B&B in Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula, has ocean views, museum-quality antiques, a billiard room, and 17 miles of coastal hiking and biking trails just outside the front door. Accommodations include a full-service breakfast, wine and appetizers, and afternoon cookies. Many rooms have ocean views and fireplaces; all have private baths, small refrigerators, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The Inn San Francisco, a 27-room Italianate Victorian B&B located in an 1872 mansion, is near Mission Dolores and many San Francisco attractions. A generous breakfast buffet is included. The four-diamond Hilton San Diego Bayfront is on the waterfront, with newly renovated guestrooms with bay and city skyline views. The hotel is across from the Padres’ Petco Park and walking distance from the downtown Gaslamp Quarter. Amenities include a spa, heated saltwater pool, and fitness center. With the Military Family Rate, veterans and active duty and retired military members save up to 10%, with rates starting at $130 over the holiday season. Call (619) 564-3344.

 

Hotel Shangri-La in Santa Monica, which opened its doors in 1939, served as an Air Force recovery center during World War II, giving aerial combat veterans some R&R before redeploying or returning to civilian life. Today the art-deco hotel still provides veterans and military members a hip, sophisticated beach getaway with up to a 15% discount on bookings. Rates include free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor pool, a rooftop bar, and a complimentary wine and cheese reception every Wednesday. With private cabins, all-inclusive pricing, and activities for every age and ability, Coffee Creek Ranch makes for an outdoorsy “dude ranch” vacation, with activities including horseback riding, gold panning, and inner tubing. The 367-acre guest ranch in the pristine Trinity Alps wilderness is a great place to "unwind, unplug, and relax to get away from it all,” says owner Ruth Hartman. Active duty military members get a year-round 25% discount on posted rates, and the discount extends to spouses and children.
