1st Lt. Ty Petty, ARNG, joined the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Public Affairs team in March 2019. He led projects for the White House Opportunity Council, two HUD secretaries, the Texas General Land Office, and a member of Congress. He also supports the traditional public affairs mission of communicating all the vital work HUD does in partnership with local communities across the states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
Prior to joining HUD, Petty worked on the Hurricane Harvey recovery team at the Texas General Land Office, for the U.S. House of Representatives, and the Texas House of Representatives. He also owned his own strategic communication consulting business and was the Director of Advocacy for a 5-star Chamber of Commerce.
Ty is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and is a graduate of the prestigious Hollingsworth Leadership Development Program at A&M. He is currently pursuing his MBA. Ty served five years on active duty in the United States Army and continues to serve as an officer in the Texas Army National Guard with 3rd Squadron, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment.
Ty resides in Fort Worth, Texas, with his wife Alexa and their dogs, Moose and Lively.
